Fitmently Privacy Policy
Last updated 17 October 2026
Fitmently is a Shopify app that lets a store's customers choose what they own, such as a vehicle, printer or appliance, and see only the products that fit it. This policy explains what the app keeps when a store installs it, and what it does not.
What Fitmently Keeps About Your Store
Your store's myshopify.com address, the access token and refresh token Shopify gives the app so it can work for your store (kept with the app's login session for your store), and the name of your Fitmently plan.
A copy of your products: their ids, titles, handles, vendors, product types, tags, status, whether they are on your online store, and their variants' ids and SKUs. The app needs this to search and filter your products in its screens.
The fitment you add: the items in your library (for example makes, models and years), which products fit which items, the files you import with their row errors, and a short history of changes so you can undo them.
What Fitmently Keeps About Your Customers
Nothing that identifies a customer. The app does not keep names, email addresses, order details or customer ids, and it sets no cookies. The app does not store IP addresses; the company that hosts its servers keeps short-lived request logs that can include them, for running and securing the service.
When a customer opens the results page, the app counts the search: which item was chosen, the year chosen when the finder has years, on which day, and whether any products were found. These counts are kept for about 35 days and are shown to the store as Insights.
The choices a customer saves stay in their own browser, in storage that belongs to your store's website. Fitmently's servers never receive them, except as the item a customer is searching for at that moment.
How the Data Is Used
Only to run the app for your store: showing your customers the products that fit, writing fitment to your products in Shopify, and showing you your own data in the app. It is never sold, never shared for advertising, and never used to train models.
Fitmently writes each product's fitment to an app metafield on that product and publishes the dropdown choices as a file in your store's Shopify files. It never changes your product titles, descriptions or tags.
Who Else Handles It
Shopify, which hosts your store and passes requests to the app. The company that hosts Fitmently's servers and database, which stores the data above on the app's behalf and does not use it for anything else.
How Long It Is Kept
While the app is installed. When you uninstall, the app stops working for your store and keeps your fitment for 48 hours in case you reinstall. Shopify then asks the app to delete your store's data, and everything above is deleted.
The file with your dropdown choices, named fitmently-options followed by a number, stays in Content, Files after you uninstall, because the app can no longer reach your store then. It holds only the dropdown choices; delete it there if you like.
Export your fitment from the app before uninstalling if you want a copy.
Your Rights
Store owners can export or delete their fitment in the app at any time. Requests that Shopify passes on from customers are answered straight away: Fitmently holds no personal data about customers, so there is nothing to send or delete.
